Teaching with a Heart, A Workshop for Teachers
Do you seek to create a caring classroom environment and bring your full personality into your teaching? This workshop series for teachers in higher education helps you to reflect on the values you bring to the classroom as a flesh-and-blood and caring person and lets you discover how to best support students by bringing a loving and heart-filled mindset to your classes.
Presenters: Roel Snieder is the W.M. Keck Professor of Professional Development Education at the Colorado School of Mines. Cynthia James is world-renowned speaker, author, and transformational coach, focusing on emotional integration. Qin Zhu is assistant professor in ethics and engineering education at the Colorado School of Mines.
In these workshops you will:
Describe a vision of a caring and nurturing teaching and learning environment.
Recognize emotional needs of students and know how to respond to these needs in the classroom.
Develop a critical awareness of the teacher’s influence on moral, emotional, and professional identities of students.
Write a personal teaching statement in which you reflect on the virtues, values, and intention to bring into the classroom.
